10 things you must know about Queen Creek
Queen Creek has quickly become one of the HOTTEST suburbs in Arizona
Hi guys I'm Alejandra Paladino your local Arizona real estate agent. If this is your first time to this blog welcome feel free to check around the website for other blogs I share tons of great information about moving to Arizona and living in Arizona.
My team and I are getting so many people calling who are relocating here, and we absolutely love it! If you are thinking about moving or relocating here make sure you give us a call, send us a text or send an email which ever way you want to reach out. We are happy to help you!
Gosh my family and I LOVE living in Queen Creek. But I really wish we knew some of these things BEFORE we made the move.
Stick around you'll never guess what #10 is!
1.) Location
Queen Creek is located in Maricopa County. And it's in the East Valley of Arizona. When you live in Arizona you will OFTEN hear people see oh that's in the East Valley or that's West Valley. Let me explain what that means, so you can fit right in with the locals.
Everything to the South & East of Phoenix is East Valley. While everything to the west of Phoenix is West Valley.
Queen Creek is located in the East Valley and many years ago people used to think Queen Creek was out in the boonies and so far from everything. But as you can see on the map it's not too far from Downtown Phoenix. It's about 39 minutes to Down Town Phoenix and about 32 minutes to Sky Harbor the Phoenix airport.
Let me tell you that's nothing! Traffic isn't bad here as at least it moves! When we lived in California it took that long or longer just to get to the grocery that was down the street!
2.) Rural Area
Queen Creek is in a rural area that exploded with growth too quickly, and I find that we don't have enough restaurants to keep up with all the growth… The good news is they are building more and we do have some great ones already that are so unique! One of my favorites is the Queen Creek Olive Mill.
It's a family owned working Olive Mill that you can come visit, shop their local market and buy some of the freshest & most delicious tasting Olive oil you've ever had. They even have a tour you can take to learn more about the olive mill and see their beautiful trees.
My favorite though is coming here to enjoy a meal amongst the beautiful trees. All the food is made with fresh ingredients.
3.) Limited Shopping
There is NO large shopping mall. With your typical retailers like Macy's & Dillard's. BUT there is an incredible outdoor shopping area called the Queen Creek Marketplace
I love this shopping area, and I'm lucky as I live 5 minutes away from it. I love the convenience of the stores they have… Target is there for overall all family goods. Or even Walmart is down the street.
If my family and I feel like going to the movies there's a great Harkins theater or even down the street they added Fat Cats which is movies, video games, bowling & drinks for the grown-ups!
And they have been adding some great restaurants. My son loves going to Barrio Queen especially on a Saturday night when they have live music on the patio. It's pretty cute to see my 6-year-old jamming to the music.
4.) Perfect for families
Queen Creek is PERFECT for families. Not only is crime rate lower than in other areas in Arizona, but the whole area is very family oriented. Something I love is there are so many nice local parks.
They just built the Mansel Oasis Park. It's a local public park that has a variety of activities for everyone kids & adults. If your kid plays a local sport they often practice or play there. My son plays soccer and that's where their games and practices are.
Plus there are baseball fields. And when it's warm out you'll see the splash pad is full of kids.
Not only that but most neighborhoods have their own parks as well. As a parent I find that having such easy access to parks is a great way to keep my little one entertained for free! You've got to love it.
5.) Unique family activities
Queen Creek has some unique activities for families to enjoy. A favorite place for my family and I to visit is Schnepf Farms. It started out as a local farm that shipped cotton and vegetables all over the US. Of the years people would stop by and ask if they could pick corn & peaches. So they switched over to offering U Pick fruits & vegetables. And realized that would offer a unique experience for their visitors.
That's when the farm really began to grow. In the 90s they wanted to keep guests longer at the farm, so they started adding more activities to the farm. They actually sold off some land, so they could downsize and focus more on offering experiences at the farm.
When my family and I go we love riding the train around the farm, visiting the petty zoo, and my son loves the playground. Plus, depending on the time of year that you go there are carnival rides that are open.
My favorite thing is the local events they have at farm.
During the month of October there's a Pumpkin & Chili Festival during the Fall Halloween time. They have a super fun spooky train ride that even my 6-year-old loves and has been riding since he was 3.
And during Christmas the whole park is lit up like a magical Christmas wonderland. And now when you ride the train there's dancing lights to Christmas music. Its such a fun experience that until you go you won't know what I'm talking about.
6.) Incredible hiking

The San Tan Regional Mountains are close by and offer some amazing hikes. The best part is there are different hikes, so everyone of all ages even dogs can enjoy!! It's such a beautiful sight to be in the desert and climb those mountains. I've taken my son many times and even though he gets tired quickly it's just nice to be out in nature taking it all in. And best of all is I love how close it is since we live in Queen Creek.
I've seen people enjoying the mountains riding their horse, walking their dogs and even riding mountain bikes. There are so many ways to enjoy these mountains.
-Hike
-Ride horses
-Mountain Bike
7.) Incredible weather
The INCREDIBLE weather that we experience in Queen Creek.
7 months out of the year we have some delightful weather, and you will see people outside enjoying it. Kids are out playing in the neighborhood and riding bikes around. You often see families riding bikes together and walking their dogs.
In Queen Creek there's a pleasant breeze here. I feel like the location of the mountains help keep it cooler with a slight breeze. Even during summer when we really need it. My husband thinks is because of the trees and mountains. Instead of some areas like Phoenix that feels like a concrete jungle and there is little to no breeze.
8.) Small town feel
Number 8 on the list is the small town feel that Queen Creek has. I think thanks to the surrounding farms in the area and heritage area of Queen Creek the town has that small town feel.
9.) Tons of local events
The FUN local events that there are in Queen Creek.
Every Friday night is the Queen Creek Festival where they have a variety food trucks. My family and I go 1 to 2x a month. We love going to support local businesses plus by the end of the week we honestly don't feel like cooking or probably ran out of food and need to go to the grocery store! And there is usually some live music too!
Saturdays there is a local Queen Creek family market. This is a great place to go and buy unique gifts. I love buying local honey & fresh produce. Just make sure you set a budget as it's easy to over spend there!
Besides those events there are a variety of different events throughout the year.
10.) Traffic
The MOST important that you NEED to be aware of… TRAFFIC
Queen Creek has grown so much that there is a lot of traffic these days. I think a big part of that is that it's challenging to get to Queen Creek. Right now there are only a few ways in and a few ways out.
But the good news is they are expanding the freeway
It's been so fun hanging out with you and sharing with you these TOP 10 items you MUST know before moving to Queen Creek.
